Testimonials
"I had a stroke in 2012 that required me to do some extensive rehabilitation to gain my independence back. I joined Supported Lifestyle Services in March 2019 and have been receiving support hours weekly to achieve tasks that will enhance my independence. Over this time, I have been supported in my home with shopping, meal planning and some cooking.
I have achieved getting my drivers licence back after many attempts. With the support of my Personal Assistant Mary we can now tick this off. I recently completed an Apiculture course that I am very proud to be able to add to my skills and qualifications as I seek employment. My health and fitness is very important to me and I am supported to attend various fitness activities such as gym, swimming (through Green Prescription) walking/running tracks. I was recently considering participating in the Iron Maori 2020 but maybe next year. I am happy to recommend Supported Lifestyle Services for support."

I am Tina Braybrook. My stroke happened in January 2015 . I was in my early 40s.
Initially when I came home from hospital I was in an organisation that was totally ideal for the recovery period of my journey This included stimulating the cognitive part of my brain and giving me encouragement with my physical setbacks. When I felt I had received all the accomplishments through this organisation, I looked for other support to suit my current requirements.Hence the start of my rehabilitation .I joined Supported Lifestyle Services I have since gained lots of confidence and new skills to believe I could be active in the community.
I enjoy helping other people and I participated in a disability strategy committee organised through the NCC. I enjoyed being part of this group because I was able to encourage changes in Napier to benefit people with many different disabilities/physical challenges. I now have the support I need to do swimming, gym, walking and have accomplished being able to remain living in my own home, and doing the majority of household management.I also receive emotional support through my carer. I have achieved many of my goals, but always keep adding onto my list of goals. A huge thank you to Supported Lifestyle Services for helping me feel valid in the community."
