Update your iPhone to the latest iOS

Keeping your iPhone up to date ensures you have the latest features and security improvements. Your data and settings remain unchanged during an update—but it’s still a good idea to back up first.

Before you start

• Set up automatic backups or back up your iPhone manually.

Turn on automatic updates

1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates

2. Turn on Download iOS Updates and Install iOS Updates

Your iPhone will update overnight when it’s charging and connected to Wi‑Fi. You’ll be notified before installation.

Update manually anytime

1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update

2. Follow prompts if an update is available

Tip: You can turn off automatic updates in the same Automatic Updates menu.
